Cultural Change through Regional Reform

Mission

The Grace Hopper Regional Consortium (GHRC) expands the positive impact of the national Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing (GHC) and the NCWIT Practices Summit to underserved, local, diversity-rich populations. The vision of GHRC is to develop self-sustaining regional communities using ACM-W regional conferences and ACM-W student chapters within the regions.

Funding

The GHRC received a three-year grant from the National Science Foundation to support regional celebrations and allow students and faculty without the resources to attend national conferences to obtain the professional development and inspiration needed to achieve their technical goals.

More recently, the GHRC received funding from Microsoft Research:
"Microsoft Research is a strong advocate for diversity of thought in computing. These Regional Grace Hopper Celebrations of Women in Computing enable the computing community to better reach our shared goal of the inclusion of more girls and women in our field. We are most grateful for the hard work and dedication of the volunteers at these conferences and look forward to seeing the impact of their work."
